Special Assistant for Community Relations

New York State Assembly Office- Manhattan; Entry Level, Full-Time:

A New York State Assembly Member based in Manhattan is seeking a motivated individual to serve as a full-time Special Assistant for Community Relations.

Requirements:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Efficient and organized;
  • Flexible schedule working evenings, and weekends as assigned;
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment;
  • Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with others;
  • Temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful, pleasant, and professional manner;
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google applications, and online marketing applications like Constant Contact.
  • Education level: Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Managing and vetting the Assembly Member’s schedule.
  • Fielding phone calls and providing intake for cases.
  • Coordinating with various government agencies to assist with constituent issues.
  • Attending and representing the office of the Assembly Member at community meetings.
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with the Member, Chief of Staff, staff, and constituents.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing and vetting the Assembly Member’s schedule.
  • Fielding phone calls and providing intake for cases.
  • Coordinating with various government agencies to assist with constituent issues.
  • Attending and representing the office of the Assembly Member at community meetings.
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with the Member, Chief of Staff, staff, and constituents.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
