Home Care Verification Clerk

Salary:
$40,000 to $43,000

Classification: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

The Sunnyside Home Care Department is responsible for
ensuring the provision of safe and appropriate care to the clients it serves in
accordance with New York State Department of Health regulations, contractual requirements,
and the requirements of the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General. The Verification
Clerk is responsible for helping to fulfill that objective by 1) ensuring the
accuracy of home care worker service hours submitted for payroll processing.
2). accurately verifying client schedules and services provided. 3). ensuring
the accuracy and timely submission of non-billable home care worker hours. 4). working
to prevent avoidable errors and identifying other areas of risk.

Activities:

Reviews and reconciles exception reports daily
within specified timeframe.

·
Reviews timesheets for thoroughness, accuracy,
and timely completion.

·
Ensures correct OMIG and/or contract codes are
applied appropriately, and makes corrections as needed.

·
Maintains an efficient system for organizing and
retrieving supporting documentation such as, timesheets, exception reports,
requests for time-off, and plans of care.

·
Corrects errors and discrepancies in accordance
with agency policies and procedures.

·
Provides accurate and timely documentation in
HCPLUS system.

·
Confirms the accuracy of the authorized/ordered
service hours in the scheduling system.

·
Completes and processes non-billable payroll
hours including intra-travel time weekly within the specific timeframe.

·
Participates
in the tracking and monitoring of home care worker scheduling for reducing
overtime and avoidable timesheet use.

·
 Ensures HCW documentation of client services
provided adhere to all FLSA regulatory requirements.

·
Performs
home care worker payroll activities and timesheet research and processing.

·
Completes the research and follow through for reconciling
unverified hours timely.

Support Functions

·
Provides on-going instruction and re-education to
home care workers regarding the proper completion of timesheets and their
timely submission.

·
Acts as a resource to staff for information
related to verification procedures.

·
Conducts
home care worker attendance verification calls, as needed.

Quality Improvement
Activities

·
Provides supervisor with feedback for
improvement activities.

·
Participates
in data collection for quality improvement activities.

Administrative
Activities

·
Provides responsive and timely follow up to
internal and external customers.

·
Maintains accurate and timely record keeping.

·
Acts a liaison between the payroll department
and home care worker in resolving payroll discrepancies.

Physical Requirements:

This role
will require bending, sitting, stooping, and standing.

Working Conditions:

The work of this role will take place
in an office setting. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required, as
needed.

 

Job
Qualifications:

The specialized skills and competencies
described above.

·
High School Diploma or equivalent

·
Knowledge of HCPLUS or other computer programs
used for home care (preferred)
